That's the Ratings working for you...
First 7 races = ALL won by Top 'A' Rated.
Borero won @ 8/1 - 'C' Rated.... much bigger on Betfair..
Alasao - 'C' Rated - only 4th from the Top - Won as he liked and was NOT even backed in - Won @ 20/1.......!
But I knew something about Alasao....!
and I managed to trap 29.0 for a win and 4.0 for a Place.
It was 16/1 in RP, no mention of it by RP, none of the 15 tipsters gave it a mention and also 53 other tipsters in the Naps table failed to find it or gave it any chance...
So from 68 tipsters and all of RP no mention at all.
Not being big headed - just feel pleased I managed to isolate this one from the others into a 'C' Rated position otherwise it would have been way down....
The commentator just said on ATR... " a 20/1 shocker won the 4-20 race..."
I couldn't give it a mention as the ground was Heavy and was not sure about that bit only...! I wish I had now..!!!!!
It is things like this of being able to position unlikely winners into the higher Top 3 Rated that make my day.

What a day the Ratings are having...!
Having started the first race with a 7/1 winner ( 8/1 earlier), the sequence has kept going...
In total the first 10 races have ALL been won by an 'A' Rated horse.
10 A rated in a sequence - that is a first I believe....! :D;D:D
Now, why can't the Ratings do this everyday....? >:(

Just done the results...
We had a total of 22 Top 'A' Rated winners today...
I think the highest I can remember is 26 or 27 Top 'A' Rated winners but today was out of the blue and very pleased to see these as I am sure you all are as well.
This is twice the average and goes in making up for some other days when we have less.

I think it has shown tremendous promise already and we must follow it and keep at it because sooner or later, those mean big priced winners will emerge and the CAN be BAD thread will be CAN be GOOD thread very quickly...!

A1 AND A2 SAAW method worked well again today.;D
I'll tell you a little story to cheer you up and put things into perspective for you:
I dutched Northern Empire and Woodcote in the 130 @ leafy lingfield thinking it was a two horse race and I thought I would watch it on betfair so layed Brandywell Boy to a £2 stake so I could watch the race. Not only did I miss the race because of technical problems with betfair but Brandywell Boy went and won because of that useless jockey on Northern Empire.
But hey I'm still laughing;D How ironic is that:D

So many winners come from these top 3...

So, it is pleasing to see so many winners coming from this range.

Excellent Racer.........I had May Martin on my 86 pounder at 17.5 following MrE's 'steady drip'...........so now in 2 days that little bank has gone from £55 to £130 on £3 stakes ;D........2 things, one for it to be 'A' rated and beat a 2-5 shot was awesome selecting but strangely it was only available at around the 3.3 mark for a place. Apart from that as it was a selection for TWF and I was in the position to monitor it I thought it was down the pan as it hit at least 60 in running. A good day.......;D;D

Absolutely wonderful Nick you were in on it as well..!
And even better it helped to swell your bank up.
That 60.0 in running was wow..!
Just £20 on at 60.0 in running would have netted you £1200
But for me at the end of the day - what made my day was being able to pick a horse out and place it in the Top 2 'A' rated when no one else gave it any chance...!
That really made my day and of course the price was superb on Betfair - I did get a couple of slices of 22.0
You don't get prices like these everyday....!
With prices like these - we can have 17 losers and 1 winner and you are still in Profit.
Boy oh Boy - was that difficult or what...?
I can tell you - it was bloody tough making that decision to put that unknown quantity and never run before horse with no form whatsoever to put it right here up against some experienced rivals.
It is little rewards like these that keep me going and propelling me forwards...... ;D  ;D

Sorry - I gave the other A rated as the Banker - I thought this was the danger but should have given this one...!
Racer
unfortunatley it was a B rated when the ratings came out >:(
Racer
03-18-2009, 07:33 PM
Yes - quite correct.
However - the A rated Bull Market was a Non Runner and when that happens, you just move them all one up.
I selected this as a B rated as it was the danger to both the A rated but if one became a Non Runner, then this B rated automatically becomes an A rated.
So - on that basis it is the A rated.
Sorry if you missed it, but worth checking for Non Runners as I always keep saying.
Racer
not a big issue, you win some you lose some
can't always watch the markets and just have to leave the BOT's to it

just taking the Crimble's ladder on the rehash post and but lowering the odds filters and the number of steps on the ladder
very much follows the same idea of the 10p SAW and all the other recovery based systems using the A rated.
you have to expect long losing runs and keep faith in the ratings, yesterday was prime example, only 9 A rates out of 27 during the day and a number of these were under the odds filters, so 11 losing bets on the bounce, the stake had reached 78 and then......Pipers Piping at 13's

Racer
04-26-2009, 08:21 AM
Hi tracer & All,
Good question..
and I am sure everyone else would be very keen to know about Saturday as well...
Well - here is the truth viewed from my experience...
Saturday admittedly is one day where the vast majority of the public is more free to bet than other days of the week and of course there are generally more meetings as well.
To a degree this extra betting also changes the prices more rapidly and in different ways that to some extent it influences the markets which in turn can give the wrong signals to the market followers.
However - I have been doing this for hell of a long time and I know I too have experienced some bad days on Saturdays but to be fair I have also had some of the best days on Saturdays.
Yes it is more competitive because more trainers are trying and not just trying but trying harder because the owners want their horses up & running & more importantly winning.
One of the most important factors you have to bear in mind when judging Saturday is that many trainers want to race horses BUT they cannot always find the right races for the horses.
e.g. - due to the Racing Authority's rules & regulations some horses cannot run in Handicaps until they qualify for them, etc. and some horses cannot jump straight into Group company for example as well...etc ...etc...etc...
Many different kinds of races - e.g. Group Races, Handicaps. Conditions & Stakes Events, Ladies races, Amateur Races, Claimers, Sellers etc...etc..etc...
That is just one part of the equation - another part of the equation is the right suitable distance for the horse can be found for it to run in...
If a horse's breeding is basically middle distances and the trainer knows that 1m 4f is more suitable, he is hardly going to try and run the horse in a 6f sprint as an example...
yes some trainers do run horses at the wrong distances on purpose in handicaps just to try and get the handicapper to reduce it's mark....but not all races are handicaps.
but generally speaking the trainer has very tough job of trying find suitable running opportunities for the variety of horses in it's stable's care.
A you know - in the weekdays there are not that many meetings and even less in winter - so that means there are even less opportunities for the trainer to find suitable races for the horses he trains.
e.g. how many 1m 4f races do you see daily..?
Not that many...
just one example...
You might think I have gone off the main point here...
but - no sir - I have not and am still on track on what we started talking about.
So - very few limited opportunities available to the trainers in the weekdays.
Come Saturday and wow - a sudden explosion of different and varying races suddenly come into play due to extra meetings being laid on by the racing authorities.
This then opens up a whole array of running opportunities for the trainers.
And what do the trainers do....?
They grab this opportunity with both hands and go for it.
This increases competition and increases entries and probably field sizes as well...
Ultimately all this causes a complex set of circumstances where many different horses from all the different stables gather to compete.
This is partly responsible for some 'odd' results on Saturday.
However - I have to be fair and have to say NOT all Saturdays are bad.
In my experience and in particularly in connection with the Horse Racing Ratings I create and have done so for 3 years now, I can categorically say that Saturday in terms of The Ratings has been one of the Best Days on a Very Regular basis.
Some of the best results gained by the Ratings have been on Saturdays, certainly the number of Top 'A' Rated winning - Saturday has very often and regularly thrown up many more Top 'A' Rated winners than any other day of the week.
That is how I remember it and I should know because I have been recording these results - every one of these Saturday results, so I should know about that.
If anyone wants to check back - it will be confirmed that Saturday in terms of Top 'A' Rated Winners has traditionally been on of the best days of the week.
However - what I can't say is - Saturday can be relied upon in any way - that is because it is Racing where so many ever changing variables are in play all the time.
General Advice to all:-
I think the best approach for any punter on a Saturday is to bet carefully on only a few selected opportunities rather than go wild and back anything & everything just because so many opportunites just happen to be there.
The Professinal Punter WILL ALWAYS be Very Selective and ONLY bet when the he finds a suitable bet.
So - do NOT give up Saturday betting - instead change how you bet.
Bet ONLY on a few selected given opportunities provided it meets your stringent strategy rules.
Make sure you work on having a strategy for yourself that suits you.
Always bet carefully - be ready and happy to sit 1, 2 or more races out IF for any reason you think the race is NOT right - e.g. the field size is too big or the race is very competitive or it is a race of maidens or 2yo race where none have run before and you can see it is very difficult to pinpoint the winner etc...
Make Sure - you keep that money in your pocket and WAIT - be patient and be prepared to wait for a more suitable opportunity and bet ONLY when that suitable opportunity arises and I can GURANATEE you that Saturday betting will become Very Profitable & Enjoyable as well.
Just remember - there will always be another race coming along very soon as so many races on the calendar.
Also - bookmakers are very happy to have even more races available because this helps confuse the punters and virtually offers them unlimited betting opportunities and usually the punters & 'mug punters' jump on this bandwagon and do bet on whatever is presented to them.
They even have virtual racing in the betting shops now....
Absolutely Crazy if you ask me...
There is NO form whatsoever presented for these Virtual Races and the races open approx. 2 to 3 mins before race time and with no form etc the countdown begins in the betting shop and amazingly - many punters run to to write the betting slips out and then run again quickly to the counter to place their bets.!
Absolutely mind blowing stuff - I cannot believe that punters are so stupid in the betting shops to even think of betting in virtual races.
These virtual races are man made, man created, artificial look alike races all created using software - make horses look as real as possible, the track and the grandstand and the small specks of people there and artificially generated crowd noise to mimic a true racecourse and then the races are run and amazingly there is even a live commentary by a real live human being commentating on this artificial virtual race....!
The world has gone mad..!
Who knows IF the races are already pre-fixed to run in a certain way and it is all a big trick to take money off the poor punters..?
Sadly any punter who bets on these races is NOT going to be making any profits but instead will be handing over his hard earned money to the bookmakers benevolent fund.
This is how bookmakers pull in plenty of money because the vast majority of punters do NOT exercise any control over their betting and bet nillie nellie.
They love punters like that because these millions of punters add to the bookmakers holiday funds.
The bookmakers want you to bet as much as you can and if possible in every race.
Do NOT let yourself into that trap.
This is where the most important word in the history of betting comes in - it is DISCIPLINE.
Betting WITH DISCIPLINE is called INVESTING.
Betting WITHOUT DISCIPLINE is called GAMBLING.
Make sure you are in the right group.
Create your own DISCIPLINE and stick to it and you will go far.
You learn to act professionally and bet ONLY in a few selected opportunities and I am almost certain you will make good profits.
Racer

That's an interesting and useful assessment, Racer, and it's always worth a reminder about being disciplined :)
Personally with Saturdays and also Bank Holidays I don't bet on the horses. I prefer to focus on the football, although during the close season I may have a little look at the nags. In a disciplined manner of course ;)
One thing I'm wondering though - and I hope you don't mind me asking: when you say that Saturdays are sometimes one of the best days for the ratings, do you mean in percentage of A's that win, or just the number of them?
In your morning updates you post in terms of numbers, and to be honest I'm thinking "well if there's more races then you're more likely to have more A's" ;D
But do you find that percentage-wise it's sometimes better as well?
Dave.

Hey Deck,
You know something...
It still bothers me that I couldn't do better today despite the odds were stacked against me having looked at the racing early in the morning...
There were some 3yo races which are a joke really and then others which can't even be explained but the collection of horses I saw competing today really was unusual....and I have to keep an eye out for such days and try to deal with these as best as I can.
These bloody 3yo races..! these 3yo should be run in private until the horses grow up a little and mature a little more before being allowed out in public.
Seriously - the 3yo brigade is often worse than the 2yo baby brigade. The worst of the whole bloody lot of them.
Aaaaarrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhhh............!
Damn these 3yo runners.
Anyway - I am quite annoyed with today and so - later on tonight - I am going to be disecting the racing for today to see where things went wrong and why..?
Also - I will be re-doing the Likely Losers I went through early in the day to see if those I had selected would have still lost or won...?
I will report back here in this thread if those LL selections would have lost.
I think it is going to be a late night for me as I need to do a postmortem to see why these results - well some of them at least went wrong..?
I am closing off now but will be up till late. Goodnight all.

Hey Deck,
You know something...
Anyway - I am quite annoyed with today and so - later on tonight - I am going to be disecting the racing for today to see whare things went wrong and why..?
Also - I will be re-doing the Likely Losers I went through early in the day to see if those I had selected would have still lost or won...?

Fridays was a good Ratings day for me,
Tried Fibonacci on the first 10 races, no filters just used Top A1 rating as selection.
Bank of £100, start stake £5
After 10th race Total was £526 (Betfair SP)
So using £50 as start stake you'd have over £5000;D
Just from the first 10 races!

Excellent News and very pleased to hear that...
but as always - caution is required as although I try my best to get some really good winners I can't always get them due to so many factors involved in the racing...
Anyway - recently we have had some amazing winners and plenty as well...
On Saturday just gone - the highest priced was 12/1 and we had no less than 21 Top 'A' Rated winners and the same 21 winners on Friday as well.
But you are right - the mind boggles of the thought of £5,000 profit from just 10 races...! wow..!
That in less than 1 day is superb...;D
Anyway - do keep us informed of any progress or new ideas in this direction... Thanks

Apologies in advance if this is the wrong place to be asking this..
Is there such a things as a 'most popular' strategy for utilising the ratings?
Not necessarily talking most profitable.. more your solid reliable 'comfy pair a slippers' kinda thing.. the one that everybody starts with n perhaps some always stick with.. just a means of using them that's proved consistent over time with a manageable risk and makes good use of what is obviously v valuable info?
New to the site and so far i'm as overwhelmed as i am impressed. SO many different promising ratings based strategies. But i'm struggling badly to find myself a starting point.
Many thanks

Hi astapp,
depends what time you have available and whether you prefer Backing or Laying. MYB (Mindyerbeak) has been doing well with the Likely Losers for Laying and from a backing point of view have a look at what nemesis and Deck are doing with the AAB Gold strategy.

There were many Tricasts yesterday from AAB ratings.:p
Just wondered does Betfair do tricasts? How much is a tricast?
Is it profitable to do one for each race?
No idea about Tricasts, although used to do Trifectas at Walthamstow dogs years back lol
Racer
06-02-2009, 09:34 AM
Hi Astapp
There are many ways to tackle the Ratings...
1- AAB Gold
2- TWF
3- Just using Top A Rated with above 2.5 Betfair price and Loss recovery - you will of course need to go back and paper trade and test before you swing in with real money
4- What about A+B Rated only? and using a Loss recovery.
Again paper trade and go back on past results.
5- What about A+B+C ? We had a member in here last year who went back on the All Weather Tracks and found a Massive number of points going into hundreds of points profit using ABC selections for backing...
The thread is in here somewhere - maybe under Gen. Discussion...? but you need to search for it...
* And the above are not all - there are many more ways - you will need to spend some time looking back on past results and looking at what has already beeing done and then think about forming something new from what you discover.
* There is real GOLD in here - just a little work needs to be done to dig it out.
* So - don't be afraid to do the work and if you need help - just shout in here please and we all will rally to help.
*** By the way - if you need more help - Can you please send a Private Message to Nemesis as he will try and help you on this...
* The obvious starting point is - reading up on past work done by others.
* The next step is to judge or evaluate IF any of those you have read can be taken further or chopped & changed in order to make it work for you..
* Then once you have decided on a particular angle - go for it and dig up as much as you can from past results and if you are stuck with questions - we will try our utmost to answer them and help.
* Be bold and - no worries - even if it is something you have never done before - try it and see how it goes - I will help you along. No worries.

Wish we could have these sort of priced winners every single day..!
Oh man...if only I could bag them daily without fail....it would make me feel really great.
I keep trying but ain't easy with some animals don't want to play and some humans on their backs want to play but don't often know how to....! ;D He..He.. ;D

What a Fantastic start to today's proceedings...?
First 3 races all Top 'A' Rated win...
and to add to that the 4th race also won by the Top 'A' Rated Ouqba at a Fantastic Price of 12/1....!
Absolutely superb from my viewpoint as it took a lot of decison making and checking and double checking and final decision to choose Ouqba this 12/1 as an 'A' Rated.
Very, very pleased I am ....!
No greater feeling than finding BIG priced winners....wow ;D ;D ;D :p
Available on Betfair @ 15.0........!

Not a good day for the Ratings so far but we got a good priced winner in Flying Cloud which opened @ 8/1 & then went on to win @ 5/1.
